BUDS YOUTH THEATRE PROGRAMME

Buds Youth Theatre is a year long programme in partnership with the National Arts Council.

The aim of the youth theatre is to offer young people the opportunity to explore the arts through the medium of theatre, free of charge, encouraging those less fortunate students to explore and grow without financial burden.

The purpose of this programme is to develop youth’s talents, expose them to a variety of genres and to help them appreciate the Arts as a career choice, advising them on educational possibilities here and abroad.

This programme is completely free to participants as we recognise that there are many interested in training who cannot afford it.

All money raised for Byt• goes towards their final production. This is a showcase of new and original local work, written, devised and performed by themselves under the guidance of Singaporean theatre practitioners.

BUDS IN CAMBODIA

Buds in Cambodia
in Association with The Playtent

Every February we head to the village of Chamcar Bei in Kep, Cambodia to teach drama and run workshops, with the children eventually putting on a small performance as part of a larger fund raising event for the village and its people. This project is part of a larger initiative by Bridges Across Borders, Cambodia.

We are always looking for teaching resources and other items to take the people of Chamcar Bei like:

– English Story Books (Adults & Children’s)

– Children’s Dress Up Clothes

– Children’s Shoes

– Puppets

– Musical Instruments

– Sports Equipment (Eg. Soccer Balls, Volley Balls, Skipping Ropes etc)
